Byron Bay

Oops we seem to have done nothing except lie on the beach and go swimming in the last couple of days! Hooray!

On our first morning in Byron Bay, we went diving out on the Julian Rocks Marine Reserve which is only 5 minutes on the boat from the beach. It was absolutely beautiful, we saw so much life and I have totally got all my confidence back. We saw some leopard sharks, a blind shark, some wobbegong sharks (none dangerous), a loggerhead turtle, a green sea turtle, lots of beautiful fish. One was a really nice purple fish with a white stripe down it's side that I saw and thought 'ooh Sarah would like that' but unfortunately you aren't supposed to bring them home :(. I tried to look it up in the book but I couldn't find it.

We are staying in Hostel that is pretty much on the beach, you just cross over some sandy disused railway tracks and you are there! It is just so hot that you can't stay there very long but the sea is really warm and there is a swimming pool and lots of garden at the hostel. Today Ben got bitten by the biggest ant I have ever seen. It was about an inch long and had really scary pincers.

This morning we got up at 5 am and went with a group from the hostel up to Byron Bay lighthouse. It is the most easterly point in Australia and it was beautiful to watch the sunrise. We got a mini tripod for the camera so hopefully we will have got some nice photos :)
